Although the Ithaca 9000 printers are designed for reliable, trouble-free operation, problems may occasionally occur which are usually easy to correct. The lists below may offer some easy solutions to the problems. If a problem is still unresolved, then it may be necessary to contact the dealer for assistance.
PRINTER HAS NO RESPONSE (NO LIGHTS, NO NOISE)
1. Make sure that the printer ac power cord is plugged in securely on both ends.
2. Check to see if the ac receptacle has power by plugging in another ac powered device such as a lamp.
3. Use the printer power switch located on the front of the printer and turn it OFF and then ON again.
ERROR LIGHT ON STEADY
1. Check paper roll for proper installation. Paper may be out or Lid may not be closed with paper loaded.
2. Use the printer power switch located on the front of the printer and turn it OFF and then ON again.
NO COMMUNICATION TO MAIN PRINTER
1. Check all cable connections for tightness.
2. Check printer configuration for proper settings.
3. Substitute a working printer to verify that the wiring and the main computer is functioning properly.
PRINTS LIGHT
1. Try cleaning the print head as dirt can cause the printer to be light.
2. Check that the printer lid is latching completely closed.
3. Unfortunately, if the latches are broken or the print head is failing, the printer will need to be sent in for repair.
NOTHING PRINTS ON THE PAPER
(Paper advances as if printing, but not print is produced on the paper)
1. Verify the paper is thermal paper.
2. Verify the thermal paper is loaded correctly. Paper should be loaded with the paper coming from the bottom of the roll.
3. Try cleaning the print head as dirt can cause the printer to not print.
4. Check that the printer lid is latching completely closed.
5. Unfortunately, if the latches are broken or the print head has failed, the printer will need to be sent in for repair.
